Universal Yums February 2017 Italy:
*Amica Lemon Chips
*Gran Art Rosemary Stuzzichina Toscana
*Lauriere Orange Froletti Cookies
*Cabroni Wafers alla Nocciola
*Monardo Gianduiotto Chocolates
*Monardo Chocolate Pralines
Although I love Italian food and desserts, I wasn’t too crazy about this box because their snacks are more salty than sweet. I was right for the most part. There were cookies and chips mostly with a few sweets but even their candy was based on a spice. Actually, there were a few chocolates too but they didn’t really stand out too much.
*3 Russet Potatoes (1 lb)
*1 Cup Apple
*½ Cup Canned Sweet Corn
*½ Cup Mayonnaise
*2 Tbsp Korean Drinking Yogurt or Lemon/Lime Soda
*½ Tbsp Sugar
If it’s made right, I love me some potato salad. I’ve had some in Korean restaurants before and always wondered why it tasted sweeter and crunchier. I noticed the apple chunks but it was something else too. Now I know what it is :). And you can too!

Cuisine: Korean Bar Food
For an all girls hangout, we decided on some yummy KFC (Korean fried chicken) at Dakgogi! Maybe because we went at an off time but the place was pretty empty. It had a bar-like feel to it but you can come in with a t-shirt and cargo pants or after work in a dress shirt. It’s a place for everyone.
The odd thing was, even though there weren’t that many people, the waitress for our table didn’t pass by often.
What better way to start girls night than a Soju Cocktail! This was great. I love soju because it goes down like water for me but I feel like it’s mixed with yakult so it’s sweet and somewhat milky. This is something you should get for sure!
You have your classic Side Dishes and I loved how they didn’t have the generic ones. Although I know a lot of people are probably upset there’s no kimchi. They might rotate their sides but can someone confirm and let me know?
These Korean Style Fries with Fried Egg, Kimchi and Pork are great but not amazing. The fries were crispy and hot with the runny egg being a nice touch. There’s Japanese mayo and pork on top as well but I felt like there could have been more. I like it a little more loaded so that near the end, you don’t have a handful of bare fries.
The Korean Style Fried Chicken with Sauce is what we came for and it does not disappoint! It’s crispy as hell and it’s spicy and sweet with not too much fire. One of the better ones I’ve had so far, I like it on the saucy side but not dripping.
And of course, the Seafood Rice Cake is a twist on the classic ddukbokki. I like to try different variations when it’s available and my favourite is still a creamy mushroom one. This one has a light tomato sauce with different kinds of seafood including mussels, squid and shrimp. I liked it since it wasn’t spicy and I LOVE seafood.
The food was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere. It’s super casual and the booth is super comfy. The service could use some work but the food is more opinion in my opinion.

Universal Yums December 2016 Germany:
*Lorenz Curly Peanuts
*Sallos Black Licorice Candy with Herbs
*Milka Oreo Chocolate Bar
*Dr. Quendt Russisch Brot
*Ahoj-Brause Cola Bonbons
*BONUS: Riegelein Chocolate Santa
*1/3 cup soy or almond milk
*1/4 cup rolled oats
*1/2 tsp cinnamon
*2 tsp chia seeds
*1/4 cup fruit
*1/4 cup Greek yogurt
*2 tsp honey
This is a super simple recipe I adapted and tweaked it to fit my tastes. You can change it as well but start with this one and see how you like it. Sooner or later, you can make it without the recipe and just eyeball everything :).
Overnight oats are great because you just mix it together and leave it in the fridge overnight; great for those on the go or you’re just plain lazy. It’s also super healthy and has a sprinkle of everything.
