After Snakes and Lattes failed to give us a table, me and my friends wandered around and my friend Sara pointed us towards Future. It seemed like a quaint, individual bakery and even though the decor was simply brown and wooden, it fit perfectly with the atmosphere. It’s nothing fancy but it has a very local feel to it. The place was so packed, every table was full! There was one lone table that was unoccupied but had dirty dishes on top. No choice but to remove them ourselves, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

They had two sections on opposite sides of the place; one was for soups, sandwiches, real food, while the other was full of delicious displays of huge cakes and was the cafe. I opted for cake because how can you resist when they look like this:

Most slices of cake that I’ve ordered at restaurants were around $5+ and were half the size. Although I didn’t take the picture from an aerial view, trust me when I say it’s bigger than any slice I’ve ever gotten. This was the only cake that didn’t have a name but I’m going to assume it’s the Oreo Vanilla Cake. The first bite you take is heavenly! It was just so chocolaty and sweet, but not overdoing it. Then you get through three quarters of it, the icing starts to taste a little…repetitive? You start to realize there must be a lot of butter in this and that there is not enough cake for the icing; it’s like the two switched places.

My friends wanted something more filling so they went for the platters. This is their Vegetarian Platter complete with grilled veggies, potato wedges, a sandwich and a drink. There was a lot of food on this plate for $8! My friend Roohi was stuffed!

Dawn ordered the Grilled Chicken Platter which comes with the veggies, potato wedges, the sandwich and a drink. Because it’s meat, it is a little more but it’s only $10 altogether! She actually didn’t finish because there was so much food! My friend Sara actually got their croissant and cappuccino but unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture.

The rating I gave them is based on my experience with the cake. It’s a shame I didn’t get to try their food but I would definitely go back there and when I do, I’ll update this review.

The rating I gave them is based on my experience with my order. I’m sure the sandwiches and coffee are great too but that’ll be for next time.
